Disability Insurance

You are unable to work due to an accident or illness. How are you going to pay your bills? You may need to call attorney Keith LePack. While Keith is an insurance agent, isn't your disability insurance important enough to consult with an insurance agent who is an attorney too?

Some sources state that there is a 60% chance you will be too disabled to work at some point during your work lifetime. Fewer than one out of five U.S. workers have enough insurance to replace most or all of their income if they couldn't work.  Disability insurance can help you if you are unable to work because of injury or illness. This form of insurance can provide income while you are out of work.  Disability insurance can replace your paycheck. What if you get hurt playing tennis, skiing or working on the car in your garage?  How will you meet your daily needs of living?  Sure, your medical insurance will pay for your medical care, but who will pay your bills?  Keith LePack, Esq. will help you find the right disability insurance policy for you.  If you think disability insurance is too expensive, think how you will pay your expenses if you are hurt!   Keith LePack, Esq. sells AFLAC policies that cater to the blue-collar worker.

Short-Term Disability

Short-term disability provides an income for the early part of a disability. A policy may pay benefits for two weeks up to two years. Short-term disability is often included as part of an employee benefits package.

Long Term Disability

Long-Term Disability helps replace income extended periods, usually ending after five years or by the retirement age of 65. Some people have long-term disability insurance provided by their employers; others purchase it individually.

Since Long-term care insurance can be expensive, couples should consider a shared-care plan.  Essentially, two plans cost less per spouse than two individual plans.  Couples can generally save about 30%.

There are two major types of individual long-term disability insurance: non cancelable and guaranteed renewable. (Other less expensive policies with limited, if any, premium or renewability guarantees are also sometimes available.)  The Insurer cannot cancel or refuse to renew the policy as long as you pay the premiums on time. Guaranteed renewable policy premiums can be raised, but only if the change affects an entire class of policyholders. For this reason, initial premiums for guaranteed renewable policies can be less expensive than non-cancelable policies.

Why use an attorney to purchase Disability Insurance?

Since a disability insurance policy is a contract, it helps to have an attorney's expertise when purchasing a policy. The contract is between the policy owner and the insurer, where the insurer agrees to pay a sum of money upon the occurrence under the policy. In return, the policy owner agrees to pay a stipulated amount called a premium at regular intervals.

If you became sick or hurt and could not work, how would you pay your bills? How would you maintain your living standard? If you are like most people, your ability to get up each day and earn an income is one of your most valuable assets. Furthermore, your chances of becoming disabled at some time during your working career are probably higher than you would expect. Disability insurance can replace a portion of your income when you are unable to work because of injury or illness. In addition to being guaranteed, or cancelable, there are two major types of disability coverage:
